The list of Seven Deadly Sins
can be traced back to the 4th century monk Evagrius Ponticus, who listed eight evil
thoughts: gluttony, fornication, avarice, hubris, envy, wrath, boasting, and dejection.
Today it's common to list the Seven Deadlt Sins as: gluttony, lust, greed, pride, envy, wrath, and sloth.
These are often paired with their opposites, virtues:
| Lust|| Chastity|
| Greed|| Charity|
| Sloth|| Diligence|
| Wrath|| Patience|
| Envy|| Kindness|
| Pride|| Humility|
Should these ideas still serve as a moral guide in our time, or should the lists be revised or updated?
