Chapter 11: The End of Perfect Paradise

Flashing Merlin starts to open his media center.

Meanwhile, pale looks for a place to sit.

The screen displays an early image of Perfect Paradise.

"This was the public beach when I bought the first plot,"

"and this was after the storm which the owner used..."

"as an excuse to sell off the public beach plots."

"This is when you arrived and saw the destruction."

"I bought those beach plots,"

"and started restoring the beach."

"I had the sand replaced,"

"and I opened the water under the beach for swimming."

"I built an atoll hut over the ocean,"

"and I installed a Tiki bar at the other end."

"Did you see it after the restoration?" he asks pale.

"Sorry, I didn't. But what happened?" responds pale.

"The owner wrote me he was losing money,and..."

"he had to sell to a developer," explains Merlin.

"By the time I got back, this was all that was left."

"Two patches of sand and some floating beach towels."

"The developer wanted to level the sim and start over."

"How could he; I thought you owned the land?" asks pale.

"I thought so too, but the Lindens told me the new owner..."

"didn't have to honor prior sales," replies Flashing Merlin.

"That's what I mean about SL being so shoddy," objects pale.

"I bought land from the Lindens for the new gallery."

"That should be more stable. Want to see it?" he offers.

"Get a life. I don't want to live in a computer," pale responds.

"What do you want to do?" he asks.

"Just to have a normal conversation," pale replies.

"What do you want to talk about?" he asks.

"Feelings," replies pale.

"Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?" he asks.

"You could give me this cottage to use as my studio." says pale.

"Actually I've been trying to find you a studio."

"My neighbor, on the other side of the stream, moved out,"

"so I rented that plot, thinking to build a studio for you there."

"Really? I want to see it!" pale jumps up.

She runs downstairs to see her plot.

"No, wait!" Flashing Merlin calls after her.

pale Infinity runs to see the land Flashing Merlin rented for her, ignoring his request to wait.
