Dear Flash:
Please edit your future responses in this way. Contrast what I say and what you say by using bold for one and regular for the other. It makes it easier for my old eyes to examine what you write.
Sociology is based on theory and research, so what I teach are the sociologies of...medicine, family, religion (only a little), social stratification, socialization, etc. None of my teaching involves Christian doctrine--except in terms of data.
You seem to think that because I am a sociologist I have to be ecumenical in my personal life. My personal life is guided by scripture and one has to have discernment as to what is presented as doctrine and what is presented as an account of what men do and say--according to God's will and absolutely against His will--and what scriptures are used for self-serving purposes such as practiced by the KKK.
Since you are not a Christian and have eschewed what you once believed, why bother me trying to convince me that the Bible is really about Polyamory? I am a celibate nun, pursuing what I believe is my life's calling of teaching and hopefully one day finishing the many articles I have in various stages of research, and sharing some music with friends on occasion, going to doctors regarding my two herniated discs, getting my house in order, to say nothing of the finances!
You may want to view the movie, "The 40 year Old Virgin" for another point of view.
Or we could re-read Brave New World.
Fondly,
Dr. S.
P.S. How are you, your mother and brother?
