Polytheists have been called idol
worshippers. Polytheists do not worship idols, rather they worship their gods.
The idol is merely a physical body some Polytheists offer their God as a dwelling
place, in the hope that the God will consent to dwell among mankind. It is only
the presence of the God that makes the idol sacred to the believers, and it is
only the devotion of believers that can cause the God to dwell in the idol.
